Gulf Coast Salute 2008
Tyndall Air Force Base Air Show
Thunderbirds lined up early Saturday morning.
Saturday was the air show here at Tyndall. Steve and I got in early since we volunteered to work the early shift selling soda and water at a concession stand. Once we were all set up I had a chance to get a few photos before the crowds started getting heavy. By noon it was nearly impossible to take a photo without someone walking into the picture. It was a beautiful day and perfect weather. It did get a little overcast in the afternoon during the Thunderbird show so I ended up with a few gray cast photos. But overall I had a great time just me and my camera snapping away all day!
Oh yeah
Steve was there too
WE had a great time!
On Friday night just before sunset we went to the club on base and sat outside to watch a mini pre show that is held there the night before the actual air show. It was such a cool experience!
As we were walking up from the parking lot an F-22 came flying in low over our heads. It was so fast and so loud it scared me to death! I thought we were goners! I had my hands full and Im dropping everything to cover my ears and wondering if I should just hit the ground because OH MY GOD IM GONNA DIE! And then it just shot straight up in the air and seemed to go forever. It was incredible! I see the F-22 flying around when Im walking on the beach everyday, but I had never seen it like that. Its my new favorite plane! I made a mini movie of the F-22 on Saturday, which you can see here.
You can view my air show photo gallery from the Photography page and there is also a mini movie of the Thunderbirds you can view here. I was so excited when I got home and saw how this video came out because you can hear Ray Charles singing American the Beautiful in the background and I LOVE Ray Charles!
